With the MLB season starting, it brings to mind my first job in sports: selling watery Schmidt’s beer as a vendor at Phillies games. Somehow, I’ve graduated to writing about beer and baseball. Though the National League banned the sale of beer in the late 19th century -- and also banned teams for doing so during that time -- beer has long been the lifeblood of baseball, even dating back to before brewer Jacob Ruppert owned the Yankees or the Busch family owned the Cardinals.
