The U.S. Soccer Federation “failed for the second straight year to approve a by-law amendment that would have given its president a $125,000 annual salary instead of remaining an unpaid position.” The federation on Saturday said that proposal “received 62.87% approval” at this week’s USSF annual general meeting, “falling short of the two-third vote necessary for adoption.” Last year, the proposal “received 58.91% approval” ( AP, 3/19 ). The meeting largely “focused on ways to elevate the voice of U.S. Soccer’s members across the entire ecosystem to increase participation at all levels.” The meeting also “focused on participant safety and U.S. Soccer’s vision for Safe Soccer.” The National Council “approved the addition” of Bill Bosgraaf and the late Kevin Payne “as Life Members” ( FRONTROWSOCCER, 3/19 ).
