Gracenote On Sports launches to connect streaming providers with sports events data

Gracenote , the content data subsidiary of Nielsen, has launched Gracenote On Sports, a metadata solution that seeks to help video providers create bespoke viewing experiences for consumers.

On Sports’s application programming interface (API) connects streaming providers with Gracenote’s vast data coverage of sports events – 150-plus leagues and competitions – and creates multiple consumer enhancements:

  • Providing personalized recommendations based on viewing history
  • Creating a sports hub for live-event aggregation across various platforms
  • Leading viewers to both pregame and postgame viewing options

Future plans for Gracenote On Sports will include displayed alerts for game scores, league standings and favorite athlete appearances on various media outlets and content channels.
