Donnie Nelson's lawsuit against Mavericks dismissed

A wrongful termination lawsuit filed against the Mavericks by former longtime GM Donnie Nelson has been “dismissed with prejudice,” according to Brad Townsend of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Nelson filed the suit on March 17, 2022 and the case was scheduled to go to trial on Dec. 10 in Dallas County Court. But late last week Nelson’s attorney, Rogge Dunn, filed notice that Nelson was “taking a nonsuit on his claims.” Nelson, who served as the Mavericks’ GM for two decades, alleged in the lawsuit that he was terminated in 2021 in "retaliation for reporting that the 'right-hand person' to then-Mavericks governor Mark Cuban had sexually harassed Nelson’s nephew in a Chicago hotel room during All-Star weekend in 2020.” The Mavericks  in a counter-petition stated that Nelson had "demanded 'a blackmail payment' and his firing was due to 'numerous poor personnel decisions'" ( DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 11/4 ). Dunn said that the parties “reached a resolution of their dispute on confidential terms” ( ESPN.com, 11/4 ).
