Bill Belichick "added to his rapidly growing portfolio of media work " today with the announcement that he will "host and co-produce a football show" on the Underdog Network this season. The show will feature Belichick "breaking down game film and analyzing situations." This is the latest media endeavor for the former coach, who is also scheduled to make a weekly appearance on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show," serve as a part of the "ManningCast," and "work as an analyst" on the CW's "Inside the NFL." Belichick is also "set to write a book on leadership" for Simon & Schuster ( BOSTON GLOBE, 7/31 ).
The show will "air on YouTube and debut before the start of the regular season." THE ATHLETIC's Richard Deitsch writes that Belichick has "played his post-New England life very smartly." Deitsch: "He either sets himself for a post-coaching life in the media or returns to coaching after a year of making some nice money on the football media circuit" ( THE ATHLETIC, 7/31 ).
