MSG Sports has promoted EVP and General Counsel JAMAAL LESANE to COO. Lesane had served as interim COO following the departure of DAVID HOPKINSON in April , but will move into the role on a permanent basis following Tuesday's announcement from MSG Exec Chair & CEO JIM DOLAN . Lesane -- who joined MSG in 2008 and over time has served as team counsel for the Knicks, Rangers and NBA G League Westchester Knicks -- will earn a base salary of at least $1M, according to public filings, with the ability to earn an annual target bonus of 125% more. Coupled with a stock package with a target value approaching $1.5M, his three-year contract could earn him up to $3M annually. As part of the job, Lasane will guide business operations for MSG teams such as the Knicks and Rangers, which include strategic planning, marketing, ticketing, in-arena experience and both community and fan development. Before arriving at MSG, Lesane was an associate counsel at HBO, as well as a corporate lawyer at Covington and Burling. He earned his undergraduate degree from Yale and his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
