Top pick Caleb Williams is expected to be featured prominently in the show getty images

The Bears will be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” during training camp this season, with the five-episode series set to begin airing Aug. 6. The 19th edition of the show will mark the first to feature the Bears, who have "long avoided participating." Team chair George McCaskey has "not been shy about wanting to avoid the distractions that might come with the show." However, it is an "opportunity for coach Matt Eberflus to get some national airtime." The show, "undoubtedly, will be interested" in QB Caleb Williams , the No. 1 overall draft pick. The NFL is "making full use of Williams’ presence in the league’s largest media market with only one team" ( Chicago DAILY HERALD, 5/30 ). The Bears are one of 10 teams to have "never appeared on 'Hard Knocks'" and one of the "few the NFL could compel to appear in this year’s version." The show could "help them gain public support for their downtown stadium project" ( CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/30 ).
