Kelce, Mahomes urge voters to pass stadium tax

Chiefs/Populous

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and QB Patrick Mahomes are featured in a new ad urging Jackson County voters to approve a tax that would raise as much as $2B of taxpayer money for two stadiums -- a new downtown ballpark for the Royals and a renovation to Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs -- in a vote tomorrow. But in spite of the "appeal from the beloved stars," the approval "isn't a lock." A poll by Remington Research Group found that 47% of respondents would vote yes, while 46% would vote no on the tax. Opponents of the measure have said the Chiefs' billionaire owners -- the Hunt family -- "should chip in more" than the $300M they’ve promised toward the $800M renovation of Arrowhead . Meanwhile, K.C. Mayor Quinton Lucas "endorsed the measure" on Saturday ( BLOOMBERG NEWS, 4/1 ).
