THE ATHLETIC’s Richard Deitsch reported South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley will be the "focus of a new documentary that will track the evolution of women’s basketball through the arc" of the former Olympian and Basketball HOFer’s career. The project is “still in the early stages,” but the production team “has filmed Staley at different points during this season.” A crew "will also be at the Final Four in Cleveland with Staley." The film is being co-directed by Kristen Lappas and Sarah Springer and will be financed and produced by Teton Ridge Entertainment. The content company Words+Pictures is also a producer on the film. Lappas said that they will “film with Staley through December, including a trip to Staley’s native Philadelphia.” The crew expects to interview 30 people and the "target is for the film to air in the spring of 2025" ( THE ATHLETIC, 3/29 ).

LANGUAGE BARRIER : In Chicago, Jeff Agrest noted Baseball HOFer Frank Thomas “let an F-bomb slip at the beginning of NBC Sports Chicago's pregame show” Saturday for the Tigers-White Sox game. After host Chuck Garfien introduced the panel of Thomas and analysts Ozzie Guillen and Gordon Beckham, Thomas "pointed out he was wearing black, white and gray," the White Sox' colors. Beckham remarked “how good Thomas looked,” to which Thomas said, "Yeah. I wish I still could [expletive] run." Thomas “immediately knew what he had done and sheepishly covered his mouth” ( CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 3/30 ).
