Seahawks coach Pete Carroll "will not return" in the role in 2024, a "surprise given that Carroll ... had said on two occasions since the season ended Sunday that he expected to be on Seattle’s sideline again in 2024." Seahawks chair Jody Allen in a statement said Carroll and the organization "amicably agreed" on the move and he will "remain with the organization as an advisor." The 2024 campaign would have been his 15th season in Seattle, continuing what has been the "longest and most successful tenure in Seahawks history." Carroll’s contract, signed during the 2020 season, "went through the 2024 season with an option for 2025" ( SEATTLE TIMES, 1/10 ).
