R&A CEO Slumbers to step down by end of year

R&A CEO Martin Slumbers "will stand down" from his role at the end of the year, leaving "one of the most powerful roles in the sport." Slumbers' departure "will create ripples through the corridors of power" in golf, but he "had trailed the likely date of his retirement ever since he took over" from Peter Dawson in 2015. Slumbers originally "signalled his intention to do 'five to 10 years' in the position," and October "will be the decade anniversary of when he was unveiled as Dawson’s successor." The "hunt for a successor is already under way" and "an executive head-hunting team has been detailed."
