StatusPro, makers of an NFL- and NFLPA-licensed VR game, is releasing its second annual edition with new features such as head-to-head multiplayer gameplay and a career mode that tracks a player’s progress over multiple seasons. NFL Pro Era II will be released on Sept. 28 with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returning as its cover athlete. Simulated gameplay is trained using actual NFL Next Gen Stats player tracking data, and the new version enhanced the AI algorithms for improved tackling and catching.
Co-founded by former college quarterback Troy Jones and NFL receiver Andrew Hawkins , StatusPro debuted its original game last fall with the promise of yearly iterations, a la popular sports games like EA Sports ’ Madden. The first NFL Pro Era title became the fastest-selling sports game on Meta Quest, with users spending 2.5 times longer in headsets than the VR industry standard.
