The Giants have fired President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and named Buster Posey as his replacement, ending Zaidi’s "heavily-criticized tenure" after almost six seasons in charge. Speculation about Zaidi’s job status " has been rampant for months and ratcheted up last week" after a report said Posey " got involved in the club’s negotiations " with 3B Matt Chapman . Giants Chair Greg Johnson said Posey -- who has been a minority owner and on the team's BOD since 2022 -- is "the perfect fit" to "define, direct and lead this franchise's baseball philosophy" ( SFGATE, 9/30 ). The Giants "will not be looking to add a new chief baseball architect but a top executive who will work under Posey’s day-to-day oversight" ( THE ATHLETIC, 9/30 ).
