College Notes: Jeff McKay joins NIL collective House of Victory, per sources

In L.A., Luca Evans cited sources as saying that USC NIL collective Conquest Collective co-founder Jeff McKay had “joined House of Victory as a board member.” A source indicated that McKay’s father J.K., a former USC WR and longtime athletic department employee, “will also join the board.” With McKay’s move, Conquest Collective “will shut down, leaving House of Victory and the TOMMY Group  --  an organization that has been quiet of late -- as USC’s only NIL collectives." Since her arrival at USC last summer, AD Jen Cohen -- both in internal meetings and external communication -- has “tried to centralize House of Victory as the primary collective for donor funds, distributed to athletes in the form of contracts structured in part around event appearances” ( L.A. DAILY NEWS, 8/4 ).

CHANGING EVENT : In Indianapolis, Zach Osterman noted Indiana Univ.’s Hoosier Hysteria event “bears scant resemblance to what it has become over the past 20 years.” This year’s event will take place on the Friday night of homecoming weekend, Oct. 18, to “maximize alumni exposure with so many fans in town.” IU will “introduce its players and hold a short scrimmage, first featuring its women’s team, and then it’s men’s team,” but “that will be it.” Osterman: "For years, Hoosier Hysteria -- and events like it -- followed a similar script. Light shows, loud music, maybe some pyro, all in the name of hype” ( INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 8/2 ).
