WBD's U.S. French Open deal for 10 years, $650M

While Variety reported that Warner Bros. Discovery had made a deal with the French Open, THE ATHLETIC notes it is a 10-year, $650M deal making WBD the new home of the French Open in the U.S. beginning in 2025. The move comes as WBD, which is the home of TNT Sports, is “in the midst of negotiations with the NBA as it tries to hang on to some rights to games.” NBC averaged $12M per year for its current 12-year agreement as the home of the French Open, which it “shares currently with Tennis Channel.” TNT Sports “already owns the European rights to the French Open as it operates Eurosport pay-TV Networks” ( THE ATHLETIC, 6/7 ).

Before the start of the 5th set in the Men's Final, John McEnroe noted NBC's final year, praised the network for its years of coverage of the French Open, thanked NBC for hiring him and gave credit to his colleagues Mary Carillo and Noah Eagle ( SBJ ).
