2K, along with the NFL and the NFLPA, have announced NFL 2K Playmakers mobile game for iOS and Android, with Texans QB C.J. Stroud as the cover athlete. From 2K’s Cat Day Games development studio, NFL 2K Playmakers is a free-to-play tactical card battler, in which players build teams of players and then make decisions on roster management and play selection.
Unlike Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon, NFL 2K Playmakers isn’t a game in which the cards fight one another. Instead, they represent players, and you build teams for play in its various modes, such as Red Zone Drive (in which you call plays) or Seasons (in which you play an NFL campaign). When the 2024-25 NFL season begins, players will also be able to predict results to win in-game rewards. Monetization focuses on selling packs of cards, and players can also earn draft picks to acquire new cards.
