Jazz GM JUSTIN ZANIK is scheduled to receive a kidney transplant today at 2pm MT. After the surgery he will "spend three days in the hospital, then take a leave of absence" from the team’s offices for about a month. Zanik hopes to be "back in full commission by the NBA Combine in mid-May." Zanik called the donor kidney an "unbelievable gift" ( SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 4/1 ).

Matthew and Kelly Stafford were back in Detroit this morning to speak at the dedication of a new SAY Detroit Play Center. The Staffords provided the initial $1 million donation to get it open.
